stock KTM link assembly PN: 7500 4083 04401 PN
stamped on stock link = 75004083000 KoubaLink
PN: KTM Duke 1.0. Lowers
the rear 1 1/4". **Note:
Will not fit the 08-up Supermoto.
Duke 1.0 link shown above.
Raise the motorcycle so the rear wheel is just slightly off the ground.
(Be careful not to harm anything fragile under the engine if you do not
have a center stand). Remove the 19 mm nut from either end of the
front link mounting bolt as you can remove the mounting bolt out either
side. Next remove the 19 mm nut from the right end of the rear link
mounting bolt so you can push the bolt out the left side without having
to remove the muffler. You may have to raise up on the rear wheel a bit
to allow the first bolt to slide out freely. After removing both
mounting bolts the link will drop out the bottom.
The new KoubaLink comes with only the bearings and seals, so install the
sleeves from the bearing end of your OEM
linkinto the KoubaLink. Be sure
to put some grease on the new KoubaLink bearings before the sleeves are
installed. There are three sleeves in the stock link that need to be installed
into the KoubaLink, longest one goes to the center of the bearing end of
the KoubaLink and the two shorter ones go on the outer ends. Do not forget
to put the step washer on the ends of the two outer sleeves after they
are installed in the KoubaLink. Install the new link on the bike
with the grease fitting angled down and to the rear (front mounting bolt
first) by pushing the mounting bolt in from either the left or right sides.
Next install the rear mounting bolt from the left side. You may have
to raise the swingarm slightly to align the rear mounting holes and allow
the bolt to slide thru freely.
3) After installing
the KoubaLink, be sure the grease fitting is angled downward and towards
the rear. *Left link engraving will be upside down, right side will
be readable left to right. You may want to pump some grease into the grease
fitting on the KoubaLink before tightening the mounting bolt nuts as sometimes
the air is not allowed to escape from the bearings once the mounting bolt
nuts are torqued. Install the 19 mm mounting bolt nuts and torque
to 45 lbs-ft.
4) The stock
fork tube positions should be fine unless quicker steering is required
after installing the KoubaLink. If the quicker steering is required
then you can slide the fork tubes up approx. 1/2" max. or until they almost
touch the underside of the stock handlebars. Do not over torque the
triple clamp pinch bolts. (9 lbs-ft lower, 12.5 lbs-ft. upper)
5) To get
the bike setup for your preferences and the riding conditions just keep
in mind that lowering the rear more than the front slows the steering but
makes it more stable on the striates and visa versa.
Lowering the rear more than the front can change the geometry and could
affect the handling, so be careful out there.
